Professional Credential Services, Inc. (PCS) was established in 1998 as a wholly-owned, for-profit subsidiary of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, Inc. (NASBA) to leverage NASBA’s expertise, experience, systems and services in expanding into non-accounting disciplines, regulatory boards and certifying bodies. In June 2011, a management team consisting of Mark Setash and Jeff Blake, in partnership with a private investment firm, acquired a majority share of PCS from NASBA. NASBA continues to maintain a minority share of PCS and PCS will remain in Nashville, TN. Mark and Jeff bring with them more than twenty-five years of experience in the testing industry.
The demand for professional and occupational certification and licensure continues to increase as professions and occupations become more specialized and issues such as individual professional accountability become increasingly critical. State, national and international regulatory agencies must continue to seek improved cost effectiveness in the regulation and management of their respective professions. Ongoing restrictions on budgets, increased workloads and expanded regulatory restrictions make the option of outsourcing of examination services a viable and serious consideration.
PCS focuses on providing examination development, examination administration and licensure and certification services to state, national and international organizations responsible for the regulation and management of occupations and professions.
PCS understands the uniqueness of each regulatory agency in the performance of their responsibilities to its jurisdiction and its candidates. Accountability, regulatory parameters, staffing needs and budget limitations all contribute to the ability of an agency to meet the expectations of their profession relative to regulation and management. PCS currently provides examination services in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for 50 plus professions and occupations. PCS also provides services to several national and international associations.
